FINAL RITES FOR MRS. STAUFFACHER HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Stauffacher. 87, were held Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m., at the Evangelical United Brethren church with The Rev. L. B. Mitchell in charge. Organist was Mrs. Eddie Bygness and Rosamond Hefty and Anna Krause sang. Burial was in the Vernon cemetery. Mrs. Stauffacher had been in poor health for many years.

Mrs. Barbara Stauffacher, was born Sept. 14 at New Glarus, Wis. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klasse. In childhood she moved with her parents to a farm west of Renwick. She spent all of her early years in and around Renwick. On Mar. 13, 1892, she was married to Jacob E. Stauffacher, a young man who come from Wisconsin to visit relatives. He decided to stay in Iowa and work and thus this union was formed. They returned to Wisconsin, on a honeymoon, and began farming there. Two children were born there. After a period of time, they came back to Iowa, to make their home. Another daughter was born in 1899. Mr. and Mrs. Stauffacher celebrated their golden wedding in 1942. Barbara Stauffacher was baptized in infancy, and became a member of EUB church in 1926. Mrs. Stauffacher had been in poor health for many years. In August 1956, She fell and broke her hip, and was hospitalized in Ft. Dodge, and Humboldt, since that time. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jacob, and her son Arthur, six brothers, and four sisters. Those surviving her are, her two daughters, Mrs. Terry Mitchell (Minnie) of Renwick and Mrs. Edwin Lunde (Irene) of Sioux City. Two granddaughters Mrs. Roger Olson and Mrs. Gerald Curlee, of Lakewood, Calif., Four great grand children, Terry, David and Linda Olson and Jay Curlee. Three sisters, Mrs. Chas. Walker and Mrs. Anna Guggisberg of Renwick, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Webster City, one brother, Henry of Renwick. She had many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
