Rites Held For Former Resident

Anna Walkner, daughter of Jacob and Sarah Freitag, was born January 9, 1874, in New Glarus Twp., Wisconsin, and passed away June 9, 1965, at Humboldt. She came to Renwick at the age of 9 years to live with her sister. Mrs. Walkner was confirmed into the German Reformed Church. On November 1, 1891, she was united in marriage to Frank Walkner. They farmed north of Renwick for many years, then moved to Renwick where they lived until Mr. Walkner died in 1928. To this union two daughters were born: Mrs. George Rice (Sarah) and Mrs. Florence Hansen, both Renwick who survive to mourn her passing; also six grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Jacob Freitag of Monroe, Wisc., and Henry Freitag at Dekalb, Ill.
