March 25, 1853 --- August 23, 1909

On Monday evening, August 22, 1909 occurred the death of Mrs. Chester Stoddard at her home in LuVerne, Iowa. Deceased was a daughter of Christian and Fr?) [Franziska] Bootz, and was born March 23, 1853 at Lancaster, Erie county, New York. She moved with her parents to DuPage county, Illinois, and later to Dubuque, Iowa. In 1864 they came to Humboldt county, and resided there until the Spring of 1908 when they moved to Lu Verne. She was at her death, aged 56 years, 4 months and 28 days. On January 20th, 1870 she was married to Chester Stoddard. Five children were born to this union; Myra Behme of Custer, Wash.; Bert and Corte of Strain, N. D.; Chester and William who reside at Lu Verne. Besides these she leaves an aged mother, one sister, five brothers and six grandchildren to mourn the passing away of this loved one. During the last few years of her life she was a great sufferer but she bore it all with patience. Her love and her devotion to her own was unusual. She lived for those she loved and well we might say "She hath done what she could." Funeral services were held Thursday p.m., August 26th at the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Malone, assisted by Rev. Malory, after which the remains were laid to rest in the LuVerne cemetery.
