Death of Christ. Bootz.

On Thursday evening, July 30th, near eight o'clock, occurred the death of Christian Frederick Bootz at the home of his brother Fred Walkner in Renwick. Deceased was son of Christian and Franziska Bootz, and was born November 19th, 1850, in Lancaster, Erie county, New York. Moved with his parents to Du Page county, Illinois and later to Dubuque, Iowa and in 1864 came to Humboldt county and has resided here ever since. He was at his death aged 57 years, 8 months and 11 days. At the age of nineteen years he sustained a serious injury that made him a cripple for life and made his life one of suffering, but still he toiled hopefully on until near the last. He leaves to mourn his death his aged mother, two sisters, Mrs. G. Stoddard of LuVerne and Mrs. Ed Eggerth of Renwick, and five brothers, George, Frank, Joseph, Lewis and Fred, all of Renwick. Deceased was a member of I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 491 of Renwick, and will be greatly missed in the home, the lodge and in the community, but we bow in submission to the Divine decree, "death has passed upon all men." Funeral services were held Saturday morning, August the 1st at ten o'clock at the Baptist church, conducted by REv. Nicholson, assisted by Rev. Poppenheimer. The esteem of this community for the deceased was manifest by the large number in attendance at the funeral. The fraternity of which the deceased was a member held a short burial service at the grave and the remains were laid to rest at the Vernon cemetery.
