Lucy F. Miller, 89, of Council Bluffs died March 19 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She was born in Harlan and spent her early years in Russell, where she graduated from high school in 1924. She graduated from Simpson College in 1928 and taught English in several Iowa high schools. She received a degree in library science in 1932 from the University of Illinois library school and worked in the catalog department of the Iowa State Traveling Library in Des Moines. She served for two years as state secretary of the Iowa Association of School Librarians. Ms. Miller worked for a time as school librarian in the Eagle Grove Community School District. In 1943, she became librarian at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, where she worked until retirement in 1971. Ms Miller was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served as church librarian for several years. Survivors include nieces and nephews. Open visitation will be at Cutler Funeral Home . Service will be at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Ronald J. Miller of First Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at the Russell Cemetery.
