IOWA FALLS — Funeral services for Berend Arends, 79, former Iowa Falls resident, were Tuesday at Blairsburg and Alexander, with burial at Alexander; died Friday night at a Webster City hospital several hours after he was trapped in a bin of shelled corn at his farm near Blairsburg; He was born near Ackley, Mar. 1, 1875, son of Aite and Caroline Arends; married Alvena Rehme Oct. 8, 1899, farmed near Alexander, Iowa Falls and Blairsburg; survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. John Hossler, Eldora; Mrs. Fred H. Johnson, Alexander; Mrs. Herman Carstens, Blairsburg; a son, Bernard, Williams; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers.
