Former Resident Dead
Word was received here by relatives December 31 of the death of C. B. Flindt at Rich Hill, Mo., who was some years ago a prominent resident of Estherville. He served as city marshal for several years and was a fearless officer. He moved from here to Missouri in 1894 where he has since resided. He was here visiting his sons about a year ago. His sons, Borgen and B. B. and G. W. Flindt are residents here. The remains were brought to this city and buried beside those of his wife in Oak Hill cemetery.
Christian Borgan Flindt was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1846 and came to the United States at the age of sixteen years coming direct to Ia. He was married to Emily Lathrop of Eldora in 1875, moved to Dows in 1881 and to Estherville in 1883 where he resided for eleven years, moving to Rich Hill, Missouri in 1894. He leaves to mourn his loss six sons and one daughter, six brothers and one sister. The Enterprise joins the bereaved ones in mourning the loss of a good citizen.

C. B. Flindt
The subject of this sketch was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, March 28, 1847, died at Rich Hill, Missouri, December 31, 1914, aged 67 years 9 months and 5 days. In 1865 Mr. Flindt came to the United States and a few years later came to Estherville where he resided until 1893 when he moved to Rich Hill, Missouri, where he lived until death. He had suffered for some years with asthma but the immediate cause of his death was pneumonia, which he contracted about one week previous to his demise. He leaves a wife, who resides at Rich Hill, one daughter, Mrs. Geo. Sterner of Mohall, North Dakota, and six sons, G. W., J. L., B. B., and W .B. Flindt of this city, C. V. Flindt of Sumatra, Montana, and E. I. Flindt of Detroit, Michigan, all of whom were at his home just before or immediately after his death. A nephew, T. B. Flindt, also resides in Estherville. The remains were brought to Estherville and funeral held from the residence of G. W. Flindt Wednesday afternoon, January 6, and interment made in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. Flindt was a sturdy hardworking citizen, a kind husband and indulgent father. His relatives here are among our best citizens and have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their bereavement.Vindicator and Republican -- Estherville, IA
