Gladys (Toni) Tonn, 84, of Waterloo, IA died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home. She was born September 22, 1928 in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Emma Wenthe Tonn. Gladys graduated from Independence High School in 1944. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Wartburg College and received her Master's Degree in Education from UNI. She taught 5th and 6th grade for over 45 years, teaching in Corwith and Postville, and retiring from the Waterloo Community School system where she taught at Black Hawk School. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Gladys is survived by her brother Charlie (Carolyn) Tonn, of Monticello; sister Evelyn Tegeler of Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law Joan Tonn, of Rowley, and Marge Tonn, of Jesup; several nieces and nephews; many great & great-great nieces and nephews; and her special friend Jane Sullivan of Waterloo.
