Hugh E. Unger, 91, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home, in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services. Interment will be at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to donor’s choice in remembrance of Hugh. The Main Street Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Marshalltown has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Hugh was born September 11, 1921 to Edward and Cora (Hughes) Unger in Corwith, IA. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed with the Railroad and American Motors both in Wisconsin. He was also employed as a welder with Gibbs – Cook of Mason City, IA.

Hugh will be missed by four sons; Hugh Unger II, Albert Unger, Edward Unger, Hugh A. Unger, two daughters; Alice Embretson, Carol Keizer, and eight grandchildren, two sisters, Goldia (Bill) Fett of Nora Springs Ia., Alice (Bob) Wilhite of Russell, Ia., a brother, James (Margaret) Unger of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.
