FINAL RITES FOR OTTO BLOCK, 82, HELD AT ALGONA THURSDAY
Funeral services for Otto Block, 82, long time resident of the Renwick vicinity, were held Thursday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in the McCullough funeral chapel at Algona. The Rev. G. J. Gerike, of Trinity Lutheran church officiated and burial was made in the Vernon Cemetery near Renwick.
Mr. Block lived for the past nine years at the Briggs rest home in Algona. He passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at St. Ann's hospital in Algona, where he had been taken the previous day.
Otto Block, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Block, was born in Scott County, Iowa on Sept. 17, 1876. He was united in marriage to Lottie M. Kelling at Renwick on May 24, 1899. His wife preceded him in death, June 12, 1932. He is survived by four sons, Ralph and Ray of Renwick, Lloyd of Centralia, Mo., Bert of Manson, Iowa. Four daughters, Pearl Trotter of Trona, Calif., Blanche Gillis, Santa Monica, Calif, Ida Jordanger of Kanawha, and Ruth Brand of Fort Dodge. Thirteen grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Vena Rohweer of Renwick. Casket-bearers were Paul Heggen, Tjeran Tjelle, Floyd Lane, Ed Oppedahl, Ralph Stoll and Edwin Marty.
