Funeral Services Held Thursday Afternoon for Henry H. McCurry, 86

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church last Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Henry McCurry, 86, who died the previous Monday evening. Rev. E. D. Hart preached the sermon and hymns were sung by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Wm. Blesie, Mrs. L. W. Miller, John Zimmerman and Thomas Gimer accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Clarence Johnson. Pall bearers were Keith McCurry, Ellis McCurry, Duane McCurry, Stanley McCurry, Edward Johnson and Carroll Packard. Burial was made in Vernon cemetery. Among those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Larson of Goldfield, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, Edward Johnson, Mrs. Luella McCurry and Mrs. Henry Larson of Eagle Grove.

Henry H. McCurry, son of James H. and Ruth Dewel McCurry, was born in St. Lawrence County, New York, on June 23, 1856, and died at the home of Ed Klasse at LuVerne, Iowa, on Monday evening, November 9, 1942, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 14 days. In July 1866 at the age of 10 years he moved with his parents to Wright County, Iowa, settling on the old McCurry homestead south of Renwick where he grew to manhood. In 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Hartwell of Hardy, Iowa. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Keister, who passed away in May of 1903, and one son, Rechard James of Los Angeles, Calif. His wife passed away in February of 1906. After the death of his wife, he cared for his aged mother until her death in April of 1926. After the death of his mother he spent two years in California and then returned to Iowa and made his home with Ed Klasse where he was kindly cared for until his death. He is survived by his son; one brother, A. A. McCurry; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
