Mrs. Ruth McCurry Passed Away Saturday

Ruth Dewel was born in St. Lawrence County, New York, Nov. 5, 1832, and died at their home in Renwick, Iowa, April 24, 1923, aged 98 years, 5 months and 10 days. On New Years Day l855 she was united in marriage with James H. McCurry. To this union were born five sons and one daughter. One son, John Calvin, and the daughter, Mrs. Henry Sheen, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn for her: four sons, Henry, with whom she has made her home in later years, James of Eagle Grove, William and Albert of this place; one sister Mrs. Mary Shoen of Minnesota Lake, Minn.; and two brothers, I. G. Dewel of Algona and Calvin Dewel of Virginia. She also leaves eighteen grand-children, thirty-three great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

In early live she united with the M. E. church.

In the fall of 1865 with her husband and family she came to Iowa. In those early pioneer days they saw many hardships, but by patient toll they acquired a goodly share of this world's goods. In 1887 they built a beautiful home and here enjoyed the comforts of life until the death of her husband in 1892. She remained on the farm with her son until the fall of 1894, when she moved to Renwick where she made her home until death.

But she is gone and the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends goes out to bereaved relatives. In the touching lines of the poet, we find a true expression of such sorrow.

We miss thee from our home, dear Mother
A shadow o'er our life is cast
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
We miss thy kind and willing hand.
Thy found and earnest care.
Our home is dark without thee.
We miss thee everywhere.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Rev. Nicholson of Goldfield assisted Rev. R. E. Cook, officiating. Burial was made in Goldfield cemetery.
