Fred Southwick Passed Away Sunday Morning
Fred Southwick died last Sunday morning at his home in Renwick following a serious illness of a few days although he had been in failing health for an extended period. he was 74 years old and had been a resident of this community about 45 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. C. R. Yeager preaching the sermon. Burial was made in the Goldfield cemetery.

Fred Pringle Southwick was born January 6, 1861, on a farm near Olin, Jones County, Iowa. He passed away after a short illness at his home in Renwick, May 3, 1936. He was united in marriage to Matilda Jane Dalby on March 5, 1887 and they moved at that time to Kossuth county. Four children were born to this union: Dessa L. Richardson of Renwick, Maude L. McGowan, deceased, Glen H. Southwick of Fort Dodge, and Margy Lucille Paulson of Mason City.
Mr. Southwick and his family came to Renwick forty-four years ago where he has lived ever since. Most of his business life was spent in the grain and stock business here in Renwick. At one time he owned the elevator now occupied by the Quaker Oats company.
Mr. Southwick leaves to mourn his death, besides his three remaining children, two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Ballou of Clarence, Iowa, and Mrs. Bertha Loobey of Goldfield, Iowa. One sister, Cora Rummel, preceded him in death one week. There are also six grandchildren and one great grandchild. One grandchild, Robert McGowan, having died Feb. 8, 1930.
