October 21, 1875 -- April 3, 1950
H. E. Blood, who for the past 35 years resided in this community, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Melvin Gay, Shafer, MN, Monday, April 3, 1950, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Hiram Elon Blood, the youngest son of Lydia and Lafayette Blood, was born on October 21, 1875, near Ripon, WI. When a small child he moved with his parents to Wright county, IA. He joined the Baptist Church of Renwick, IA. About 1900 he moved to Manchester, SD, and later to Huron, SD. In 1914 he came to make his home with his brother, M. E. Blood and family and in 1915 he moved to this community. In later life he was handicapped by the loss of his hearing but he kept up an active interest in reading. He was the last of his family to be called by the Master.
He is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Miss Emma Belle Yourdon, Minneapolis, MN.; Mrs. Harlow Peasley (Maggie) of Birnamwood, WI; Mr. George F. Blood, Birnamwood, WI; Mr. Henry Blood, Tomahawk, WI; Mr. George H. Blood, Washington, D.C.; Mr. Fred D. Blood, Sharpsburg, IA; Mr. Ralph C. Blood, Taylors Falls, MN; Mrs. John Webstad (Carrie), of St. Croix Falls, WI; Mrs. Harris Plummer (Emma), of Sarles, ND; Mrs. Melvin Gay (Belle), Shafer, MN.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church of Taylors Falls, MN, on Thursday, April 6, 1950, at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Marlen Johnson of Lindstrom, officiating, Miss Flora Caneday sang, "The Old Rugged Cross", "I Shall See Him Face to Face" and Abide With Me." She was accompanied by Mrs. Bushweiler. Pallbearers were: Arthur Wilberg, Albert Nelson, John Smith, Lester Ditlefsen, Chas. Wilberg and Russell Lundberg. Interment was made in the Kahbakong cemetery. Grandstrand Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Attending the services from away were Miss Emma Belle Yourdon of Minneapolis and Mrs. Harlow Peasley and Delaine Wincentsen of Birnamwood, WI.
