JESUP, IA — Irene Eva Peck Wordehoff, 91, of Jesup, died Wednesday, April 3, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. She was born May 9, 1921, in Kanawha in Hancock County, daughter of Bruce Harkinson and Dora Ann Wagner Peck. She married Paul Edward Wordehoff on June 19, 1948, in Clarion. He died Feb. 21, 1998. Mrs. Wordehoff graduated from Clarion High School, Clarion, in 1941. She taught in rural one-room schoolhouses in Wright and Franklin counties from 1941 to 1948 and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She was a homemaker, and also baked cakes for special occasions and did seamstress work from 1971 until 1996. She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup.

Survived by: four sons, Loren (Rosie) of Yuma, Ariz., Norman (Sheryl) of Rowley, Mark (Mary Dodge) of Shellsburg and Gary Paul (Loni) of La Porte City; four daughters, Ja Peck and Linda Beving, both of Carrollton, Texas, and Roxanne (Ricky) Weber and Rita (Gary) Smith, both of Jesup; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Beryl (Evelyn) Peck of Waverly; and two sisters, Thelma (Arnold) Prohaska of Mason City and Doris (Robert) Prohaska of Garner. Preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Greg Beving; four brothers, Burdette, Merle, Terry and Charles Peck; and two sisters, Dorothy Keeling and Charlotte Peck.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
