September 3, 1895 --- October 14, 1953

Funeral services for Gail H. Hockman, 53, whose body was found in the Cedar River Wednesday morning, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Kearns-Dykeman funeral chapel. Dr. George G. Hunt, pastor of Grace Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be at Webster City. Coroner Sidney D. Smith said the man apparently fell from the bridge and suffered severe head injuries.

He was born at Woolstock, Ia., on Sept. 3, 1895, the son of the late Lemuel Hockman and Mrs. Sarah Hockman, now of 319 Clay St. He came to Waterloo at the age of nine and spent most of his life as a painter. He was not married. Survivors include his mother, two sisters: Mrs. William Herrick of 129 Moir St., Mrs. Laura Boughton of Janesville, Wis., and a brother, Delmar, of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
