Kirk (Monk) Brooks
Former Clarion resident Kirk Brooks, 62, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn. At his request, no service will be held. Kirk was born September 24, 1950, in Fort Dodge, to John (Jack) and Gladys Brooks. He attended school in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School in 1968. Kirk was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, fishing, flea markets and always hunting for a good deal on craigslist. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Kirk is survived by lifelong friend and partner Margaret Smith, Cross Plains, Tenn.; two sons: Rodney and wife Shannon of Clarion, and Christopher and wife Michelle of Waterloo; five grandchildren; his brother, Kent and wife Linda of Clarion; sister, Kay and husband Charles Carlson of Silver City. Kirk is preceded in death by his parents John and Gladys Brooks, wife Cindy (McDowell) Brooks, grandparents Edgar and Hazel Brooks and Louis and Lillian Hanson.
