ADAMS, MN -- The funeral for Richard Clay Porterfield will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gordon Larson officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.

Mr. Porterfield, 86, of Adams, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at Adams Health Care Center. He was born March 5, 1915, in Holton, Iowa. He graduated from Holton High School and married Dorothy Mae Kosier on Nov. 26, 1941, in Watertown, S.D. They lived in the Austin area, where he farmed and worked for the Thill Implement Co. in Rose Creek. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and an avid woodworker.

Surviving are two sons, Robert (Shirley) of Dallas and Michael (Sherrie) of Rochester; a daughter, Peggy (Russell) Oquist of Cypress, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Hugh (Myrtle) of Alexander, Iowa, and Jay (Ernestine) of Tahlequan, Okla.; and a sister, Leota Biggard of Circleville, Kan. He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers. Friends may call at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and a half hour before the service Saturday at the church.
