March 10, 1962 --- June 6, 1993

Mass of Christian burial for Nancy Caroline Black Benike will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Church with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Benike, 31, of Elgin, died of an aneurysm Sunday (June 6, 1993) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Six months pregnant at the time of her death, her son, to be named Noah Mathew, also died.

The former Nancy C. Black was born March 10, 1962, in Rochester where she was born and raised and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1980. In 1984 she graduated from Winona State University. On Feb. 15, 1986 she married Gary Benike in Rochester. Mr. Benike worked as a farmer. Mrs. Benike began working for IBM in 1985 and continued to work there until the time of her death. She was a member of the American Liver Foundation, worked as a CCD teacher and was worked with the Olmsted County 4-H.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jacob Wyman and Patrick Warren, both at home; her parents, Wyman and Naomi Black of Rochester; her grandmother, Mary Lorene Harlow of Clarion, Iowa; three sisters, Naomi (Mrs. Allan) Strange of Chatfield, Amy S. Black and Bobbi Jean Black, both of Rochester; and four brothers, Michael Black, Andrew O. Black, James G. Black and David R. Black, all of Rochester. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Macken Funeral Home where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service.
