ST. CHARLES, MN -- The funeral for Beatta Luella Saathoff will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles, with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will be in Saratoga Cemetery, rural St. Charles. Mrs. Saathoff, 90, a longtime St. Charles resident, died Friday (June 9, 2006) at St. Anthony Park Home in St. Paul.

Beatta Luella Richter was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Thor, Iowa. She married John Saathoff on July 4, 1935, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. They moved to St. Charles to farm in 1953. The couple retired from farming in 1968 and moved to St. Charles in 1978. Her husband died Oct. 6, 1991. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles and had recently moved to St. Anthony Park Home.

Survivors include a son, Theodore (Eileen) of Walker, Minn.; three daughters, Margaret (Bill L.) Heim of St. Charles, Susan (Tom) Kyser of Cadott, Wis., and Christine (Charles) Grui of Lexington, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes-St. Charles Chapel, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
