PINE ISLAND, MN -- The funeral for Ardith "Art" Nodland will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pine Island with the Revs. John T. Lohre and Gail Madson officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Island Cemetery. Mr. Nodland, 86, of Pine Island, died Friday (Feb. 21, 1997) at the Pine Haven Care Center, in Pine Island.

He was born July 4, 1910, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He graduated from Kenyon High School in 1929. He married Arline Bolles on Sept. 3, 1932, in Cresco, Iowa. In the 1940s, he owned Zumbrota Construction Co. In the 1950s, he was a supervisor at the Thule Air Force Base in Greenland. Also in the 1950s, he worked on the Atlantic-Pacific Highway in Guatemala. He was a carpenter in the Rochester area for 30 years. He was the owner of Neptune Bar and Restaurant in Zumbro Falls, and he and his wife also owned Art and Arline's restaurants in Zumbrota and Oronoco. He was a former resident of Zumbrota, Zumbro Falls and Oronoco. He was a member of the fraternal order of the Eagles in Rochester, the Elks, Kiwanis in Oronoco, and carpenter's local in Rochester.

Survivors include his wife, Pine Island; one son, Arlend "Sam," Elgin, Ill., one daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Lyman "Joe") Poole, Gibbon, Minn.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Virgil, of Wanamingo. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Mahler Funeral Home in Pine Island.
