Loren Frederick Krieger, the son of Harry and Nellie (Mourlam) Krieger, was born January 7, 1927, on the family farm, rural Woolstock, Iowa. He attended country school and Woolstock schools.

On June 16, 1946, Loren was united in marriage with Shirley Spangler at the Lutheran Parsonage in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home and raised their family on Loren's family farm where they still resided. Loren farmed and raised cattle, pigs and chickens, retiring in 2006. If he found the time, he enjoyed fishing.

Loren passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 86 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara; great-granddaughter, Ashley Krieger and his brother, Weldon Krieger. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Krieger of Woolstock; seven children: Dennis Krieger and wife Marge of Blairsburg, Linda Nelson of Goldfield, Sheryl Buhr and husband Dallas of Eagle Grove, Lorena Reed and husband Rich of Woolstock, David Krieger and wife Cathy of Decorah, Darwin Krieger and wife Angie of Webster City and Patricia Krieger and significant other Ed Lenning of Clarion; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a niece.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in French Church Cemetery in Woolstock. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
