15 November 1879 --- 2 December 1964

Edna Eliza White, daughter of Simpson and Hester White was born on November 15, 1879 at Lestant, Illinois. At the age of 16 years she moved with her family to Wright County, Iowa. On February 1, 1903, she was united in marriage to Edgar W. Yocum. The couple lived on farms south of Clarion and were members of the Wall Lake Congregational church. She was one of the founders of the Li-Wa-Da-Wo Club, also a member of Ceres Circle during the time she lived in the Clarion vicinity. Their home was blessed with two children, Marvin and Hettie. In 1946 Mr. and Mrs. Yocum retired and moved to Galt, where Mr. Yocum passed away on September 8, 1954. For the past 6 years, due to her age and declining health, Mrs. Yocum had lived in the homes of her two children most of the time, but still maintained her home in Galt. After an illness of 6 weeks Mrs. Yocum entered into rest at the Hancock County Memorial hospital in Britt, Ia., on Thursday morning, December 2, 1964. She was a member of Lena Rebekah Lodge in Galt and the Royal Neighbors in Clarion. Survivors are her two children, Marvin of Cassville, Missouri, Mrs. J. C. (Hettie) Gammelgaard of Britt, three grandchildren, Mary Mensing and William Yocum of Cassville, Missouri, and Beth Yocum of Springfield, Missouri, one sister, Mrs. Sam (Hattie) Bauman of Galt and one great granddaughter, Mary Ann Mensing of Cassville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, William, Lewis J. and Murt.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 P.M. at the Galt Congregational church with Rev. Park Miller officiating. The text of the sermon was on the 23rd Psalm. Two selections were sung "What a Friend We Have in Jesus' and 'In the Garden" by Mrs. Merle Poolman and Mrs. Marion Blankenship accompanied by Mrs. Larry Bobst. Pallbearers were Tom Cosgriff, William Weiland and Allen Michelson of Britt, Olaf Watne, Merle Poolman and Marion Blankenship. The Eyler Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. John Rummens and Mrs. Erv. Melhus took care of the flowers. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Clarion.
