September 22, 1876 --- September 8, 1954

Edgar Willis Yocum, 77, was born Sept. 22, 1876. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Yocum were pioneer settlers of Wright county and lived five miles south of Clarion. He was the fourth child in a family of five children, all having preceded him in death. He was married to Edna White on Feb. 1, 1903, at the Congregational parsonage in Clarion. They celebrated their golden anniversary last year with open house at their home. Two children were born to them, Marvin E. and Hettie A. Yocum who with their mother survive. Mr. Yocum joined Wall Lake Congregational church when a young man. He farmed in the Dayton and Lincoln township communities until eight years ago when they moved to Galt where he with his son operated a garage and hardware store. He was a member of the Cornellin Masonic lodge at Dows. Mr. Yocum became ill in May, 1954, and has since that time gradually failed in health. He passed away Wednesday morning at his home. Besides his wife, his son, Marvin E. of Dows and his daughter Hettie A., he is survived by three grandchildren, Mary, Beth and Billie of Dows.
