September 8, 1932 --- December 1, 2012

EAGLE GROVE - Leslie D. Beecher, 80, of Eagle Grove passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 at his home. A memorial service will be 11:30 Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Laufersweiler-Sievers funeral home, with Rev. Gary Snook, chaplain of Trinity Hospice, officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior at the funeral home.

Leslie is survived by his children, Gil Beecher and wife, Sharon of West Des Moines; Linda Preston and former son-in-law, Ron Preston of Fort Dodge; and Nancy and husband, Alan Lockman of Farnhamville; grandchildren, Marques Preston of Fort Dodge and Bianca (Jeff) Ward of Medford, MN; six great-grandchildren; and Fern Schultz. He was preceded in death by his father, Vivian Beecher; mother, Helen Vroman; step-father, Donald Schultz; brother, Eugene; an infant sister; ex-wives, Margaret and Sandy; and his special friend, Cynthea Evans.

Leslie Donald Beecher was born September 8, 1932. He graduated from Goldfield High School in 1950. He attended Iowa State University and Eagle Junior College. In 1952 he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Mishler and the couple later divorced after 26 years of marriage. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea from 1953 to 1955. After his honorable discharge Leslie worked as an electrician for over 40 years in the Fort Dodge area. He was a member of the Local 347 Union for over 50 years and was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W. for over 40 years. Leslie enjoyed fishing. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
