FORT WAINWRIGHT, ALASKA - Shawn Monroe Dugan, 25, of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, died Friday, November 30, 2012 in Ester, Alaska. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with Pastor Dave Simonson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Iowa. Visitation for Shawn will be held on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Shawn Monroe Dugan, son of Laura (Dugan) Stein, was born October 14, 1987 in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from Webster City High School in 2007. On October 9, 2009 he was united in marriage to Abby Learned in Fairbanks, Alaska. Shawn was currently serving in the United States Army in the 25 BSB, 1-25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team. Shawn had served tours in Iraq, sustaining injuries during his tour and Afghanistan.
He is survived by his wife; Abby Dugan of Fort Dodge; his daughter, Allissa Dugan of Fort Dodge, his mother, Laura (Dennis) Stein of Williams, his siblings, Jeremy Smith of Fort Dodge, Eugene Smith of Fort Dodge, Jacob Miner of Des Moines and Amanda Miner of Williams; his grandparents, Roger and Mary Lou Dugan of Woolstock and Dennis and Joan Stein of Webster City and his father and mother-in-law, Kevin and Nancy Anderson of Coalville. Shawn was preceded in death by his grandmother, Donna Hathaway and his nephew Timothy Wyatt-Smith. Shawn enjoyed working on cars, hunting, snowmobiling and detailing vehicles.
