ROWAN, Iowa - James M. Jackson, 85, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. Visitation for James will be on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m at Andrews funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, at the Andrews Funeral Home. Pastor Nancy Hofmiester will be officiating the services. Arrangements are with Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa.

James Matthew Jackson, the son of James Jackson Sr. and Ruby (Hartman) was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Washington Township located in Franklin County, Iowa. He was one of seven children. Jim graduated from the Hampton High School. James was united in marriage with Lucille Root on Sept. 5, 1948. To this union, they were blessed with five children: Diane, Gary, Duane, David and Steven. On May 29, 1981, James married Delores Taylor. Jim spent his younger years with many different employment occupations, ranging from helping as a farm hand, to his favorite profession and pastime as a pastry chef for numerous years all over the state. James continued his working life until his final years of his working life as a manufacturer at Hagie in Clarion, and then retiring at Electrolux in Webster City.

James had numerous hobbies including hunting wild game to fishing in the great outdoors. Jim marched to the beat of his own drum and continued up until his final days. Jim loved to be with his family and friends making memories that lasted a lifetime.

Jim's love and memories will continue on in the hearts of his children: Diane (Ray) Vasquez; Gary Jackson; Duane (Vicki) Jackson; David Jackson; stepchildren: Rich Taylor and Barb (Mike) Smith; grandchildren: Michael, Michelle, Christina, Keith, Jennifer, Anna Marie, Heather, Kenneth, Patrick and Ryan "Jack"; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters: Anna Mae (Marvin) Myers and Sharon Miller; brother-in-law Ivan (Elise) Lycky; friend Lucille Jackson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his wife Delores; infant son Steven; daughter-in-law Joyce; two brothers; two sisters. Andrews Funeral Homes Belmond, Iowa.
