Dolores Hall Lowery, 91 of Plainfield, died peacefully Monday after a long struggle with dementia. She was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1921 to Margaret Doyen and Earl Hall, the middle child of three. After graduation from high school and business secretarial school, she went to work at Iowa State University where she met her future husband. In 1942, she married Oscar Horace Lowery of Lyman, Mississippi. Oscar died in 1997. Surviving are daughters: Sue Leuschke, Janice Schmadeke and husband, Kurt, Eva Yount and husband, David, grandchildren: Graham, Kate, Sara, Eric, Kyle, Kelly, Scott, David, Julie and Mike, and 5 great grandchildren. Dolores played a mean game of bridge, taught swimming lessons, played golf and enjoyed a good conversation. She was active with the Welcome Wagon and Women's Club. She was the church secretary at Plainfield United Methodist Church and then worked at the Indiana State legislature, from which she retired. Her joy for life was contagious.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, November 16 in Plainfield United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am prior to the service in the church. Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis 441 E Tenth St Indianapolis, IN 46202.
