Virgil Charles Butler, 65, of Clarion, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at his home in Clarion. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion. A memorial service at the funeral home will follow at 6:30 PM. Following the memorial service, friends and family are invited to the shelter house at Lake Cornelia to celebrate Virgil's life.
Virgil was born on September 20, 1947, in Webster City. He attended Eagle Grove High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He returned home to work at Maudlin's Construction and later at Peterson Contractor Inc.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters, Lori Butler (Lance Wright), Tanya Morales and Shannon (Jason) Hilker; grandchildren, Marissa, Dylan, Devin, Derek, Miles and Aryana; sisters, Crystal (Dick) Griffith, Kimberly Butler and LeLanie (Marvin) Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Butler-Williams; father, Gale Butler; brother, Vincent Butler and stepfather, Gerald Williams.
