Osie A. Wilcox, 98, Indianola

Services for Osie A. Wilcox, 98, who died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola with visitation prior to services starting at 1 p.m. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove.

Osie Amelia Wilcox was born Nov. 17, 1913, to Adel Ophelia Hansen and Thomas Jefferson Stryker in Troy Township, Wright County and was a Renwick High School graduate. She was a direct descendent of William Stryker and Roxena Wilcox Stryker, the first settlers of Wright County in 1854. Osie married Harold Wilcox on Nov. 24, 1934, and together they had four children. She lived in Eagle Grove until 1980 when she moved to Boone. Harold died Jan. 25, 1991, and in 2004 Osie moved to The Village in Indianola. Osie remained independent in her own home right up to the end of her life. She was active in the local churches and a very loving and giving person.

Survivors include her son, John (Dorothy) Wilcox; daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Clarke; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Joan Marie Wilcox. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold of 57 years; son, Norman Wilcox; daughter, Joan Boggs; son-in-law, Stan Boggs; and sister, Stella Will.
