Hazel Katinka Barmore, the daughter of Tom H. and Anna Bertine (Ludvigson) Thompson, was born November 4, 1920, in Wright County on a farm near Kanawha, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1938. On June 11, 1947, Hazel was united in marriage to Clinton "Mike" Revis Barmore at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home and raised four children in Eagle Grove. Hazel worked as a secretary for the Wright County Superintendent of Schools, for Samuel Lutheran Church and also worked at the Wright County Assessor's office in Clarion. Hazel was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church and was truly a church basement lady.

Hazel passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clinton on April 3, 1988; six brothers and two sisters. Hazel will be greatly missed by her children: Hazel Marie Wiegert and husband Frank of Minneapolis, MN, Lois Kagan and husband Mikael of Peoria, AZ, Paul Barmore and wife Dale Jean of Rockton, IL and Steven Barmore and wife Wendy of Yarmouth, ME, and five grandchildren: Laurel A. (Barmore) Schmitz (Samuel), Thomas Barmore, Daniel Barmore, Matthew Barmore and Elizabeth Barmore; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Barmore and Bram Schmitz and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Samuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
