Florence Helen Block

Florence Helen Block, daughter of Claus and Anna Block, nee Ramm, was born in Renwick, Iowa, Dec. 7th, 1918. On April 6, 1919 she was made a child of God thru Holy Baptism. On December 15th, 1925, she was taken to the hospital at Fort Dodge where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. Everyone looked for a speedy recovery. But the Lord had other plans. Pneumonia as well as other serious complications developed and she passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 22nd at seven o'clock. Thus the heavenly Shepherd answered her prayers and took his little lamb to His fold above where pain and suffering could no longer reach her and where she could rest secure from all harm and danger and live in happiness and heavenly joys forever. She also prayed that her Savior should do this. Before her death she was often heard praying the following prayer:

"Jesus tender
Shepherd hear me
Bless your little lamb tonight
Through the darkness
Be thou near me
Keep me safe till morning's light."

Truly to her death the word of Scripture can be applied: "Blessed are they who die in the Lord." If only our hour of death finds us so prepared as she was.

She was a faithful and willing little member of the Lutheran Sunday School and a pupil of the second grade of the local public school.

She leaves to mourn: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Block; three sisters, Myrtle, Connie and Eva; three brothers, Clem, Arnold and Merrill; her grandmother, Mrs. Metta Block; her grandfather, Mr. Ramm, and other relatives besides her host of friends who loved her dearly. Her age was seven years and 15 days. May she rest in peace.
