MRS. CHRISTINA BLACK
Christina Black, daughter of Fredolin and Barbara Klasse, was born at Renwick, Iowa, November 11, 1879 and passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at 12:28 a.m., November 28, 1957.
Christina Klasse was born on a farm north of Renwick and received her education in the rural schools of the county. Her parents were engaged in farming and cheese manufacturing, and she and the rest of the family had their tasks about the farm. On September 18, 1901, she was united in marriage to William Black, who at that time was engaged in the blacksmith trade in Renwick. This union was blessed with four children, Mrs. Edna Stafford of Renwick, Mrs. Hilda Clark of Goldfield, Clarence Black (deceased) and Mrs. Melva Bonwell of Eagle Grove. She resided at Renwick from the time of her marriage for 41 years, until the time of the death of her husband, William, on June 9, 1942, and since that time has spent the past 16 years at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Melva Bonwell at Eagle Grove.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three daughters, Edna, Hilda and Melva, several grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Stauffacher, Mrs. Anna Guggisberg, Mrs. Emma Walker of Renwick, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Webster City, one brother, Henry Klasse of Renwick and many other relatives and a host of friends. Her husband, William, preceded her in death in 1942 and her only son, Clarence, in 1953.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., November 30, 1957 at the Kastler Funeral Chapel in Eagle Grove, Iowa, with the Rev. Glenn Emmert officiating. Burial was made in the Vernon Cemetery.
