Kathleen "Kay" Ann Yanney was born September 6, 1927, in St. Albans, Vermont, the daughter of Henry and Gladice (Chadwick) Sweeny. She grew up in St. Albans where she attended school at Bellows Free Academy, graduating in 1945. Kay took secretarial training and upon completion began working as a secretary near her home town. On January 2, 1954, Kay was united in marriage to Earl Yanney in Winooski, VT. Upon Earl's honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in March of 1955, they moved to Renwick to begin farming. Kay stayed at home on the farm and raised their children and in 1968, became the United Methodist Church secretary until retiring in 1990.

Kay enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She was a past 4-H Leader and enjoyed being involved in the Boone Township Women's group. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Gertrude Chapter #500.

Kay died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at The Heart of Wright Care Center in Clarion. She was 85. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Earl of Clarion, formerly of Renwick; daughter, Linda Yanney of Iowa City; sons, Allen and Melanie Yanney of Fairfield, VT; Paul and Sigrid Yanney of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Robert and Brett Schmidt; Steven, Matthew, Richard and Megan Yanney. Also surviving are brothers, Raymond and Sandra Sweeny of St. Albans, VT; Earl Sweeny of Lake Placid, NY, sister-in-law, Beulah Beaman of St. Ansgar, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Sweeny.
