EAST MOLINE - Marie L. Riggs, 86, of East Moline, died Friday, August 24, 2012, at East Moline Health and Rehab Center, East Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, with services at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, also at the funeral home. Pastor Nikki Ross Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery following services.

Marie was born January 12, 1926 in Kanawha, Iowa, the daughter of George and Hanna (Eenhouse) Eekhoff. She married Donald D. Riggs on Dec. 11, 1948, in Jackson, Miss., and was a homemaker. Marie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, shopping on QVC, cooking and "Blackie," her cat. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, David (Ruth) Riggs, East Moline, and Douglas Riggs, Geneseo, Ill.; daughters, Cindy (Bill) Buenting, Kirkland, Wash., and Sara (Jonathan) Reed, East Moline; grandchildren, Mark and Scott Buenting, and Katy and Laura Reed; brothers, Jake Eekhoff, Minneapolis, Minn., and Hemo Eekhoff, Belmond, Iowa; sisters, Emma Nelson, Belmond, and Hanna Mack, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother.
