ROCKWELL - Kathryn L. Quam, 59, of Rockwell and Mason City, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mason City. Memorial services for Kathryn Quam will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane S., Belmond. Gerald "Red" Haugland will officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m. until service-time on Monday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home.

Kathryn L. Quam, 59, of Rockwell and Mason City passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mason City. Memorial services for Kathryn L. Quam will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday August 27, 2012 at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home on Monday.

Kathryn Lynn, the daughter of Carl and Donna Kroeger Traeger was born July 29, 1953 in Belmond. Kathryn grew up in Belmond where she attended school. Kathryn graduated from Belmond High School in 1971. Kathryn was united in marriage to Orval Quam on March 8, 1974 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Together they were blessed with two children, Bruce and Janet. They later divorced. Kathryn lived with her parents for a time, and later moved into a trailer at her parent's farm. After her mother passed away, she and her two children moved into Thornton to be close to her sister. After her children graduated from high school, Kathryn moved to her sister's home. She went to the Twin Cities in November of 2004 to have a defibrillator put into her heart.

Kathryn worked at the hardware store in Thornton until it closed. She also baby-sat while she was married. She enjoyed working on word puzzles and playing with her cat. Kathryn is remembered a wonderful sister and friend, who loved her family very much.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Bruce of Mason City, Janet of Des Moines, two sisters, Lorie (Dick) Halsne of Thornton, Christa Traeger of Occoquan, VA, five brothers, Keith (Karen) Traeger of Eagle Grove, Jim (Liz) Traeger of Grundy Center, Larry (Deb) Traeger of Las Vegas, NV, Craig (Dawn) Traeger of Renwick, Kevin Traeger of Eagle Grove, fourteen nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and a sister in infancy.
