James Alan Gealow, 74, of Richville

James Gealow, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Perham Health in Perham, Minnesota. He was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Sofie Marie (Johnson) Gealow. Jim graduated from Belmond High School, Waldorf Junior College in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, [sic - Forest City, Iowa] in 1957, and the University of Minnesota in 1963, with honors. On Sept. 28, 1957, he married Carole Greer in Meservey, Iowa. From 1963-1981, he was the Chief Physical Therapist at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. In 1981, he became the Director of Rehabilitation and Long Term Care, also at Lake Region Hospital, holding that position until 1987, at which time he became the Physical Therapy Department Manager at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. Jim retired in 1999. On Aug. 8, 1987, he married Carol Lunde at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. Jim was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Amor and served on its council. He was on the Board of Directors of Campfire Girls, member of the Elks Club in Fergus Falls, past president of Jaycees, past member and chairman of City Planning Commission in Fergus Falls and also a member of the Planning Commission for the city of Wadena. He was also a member of the Lions Club in Wadena and an avid hunter, fisherman, and lifelong fan of the Minnesota Gophers.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and an infant daughter, Kimberly Gealow. Survivors include his wife, Carol; two daughters, Jami (Charles) Goettl of Mankato and Kendra (Sabastian) Hermans of Naples, Fla.; three stepsons, Eric Lunde of Moorhead, Matthew (Carrie) Lunde of Wadena and Mark (Nicole) Lunde of Wadena; nine grandchildren, A.J. and Zach Goodsell, Manouk and Benno Hermans; Nickolas Fronning, Alex and Evan Lunde; M.J. and Julia Lunde; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Tyson, Lincoln, Jaxon and Adrianna.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service; Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Amor; Clergy: Rev. Jim Gronbeck; Burial: Zion Amor Cemetery; Funeral Home: Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls. MN;
