MASON CITY — Clarence Francis Sandry, 78, Mason City and formerly of Forest City, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Per Clarence’s wishes, his body has been cremated. A celebration of his life will take place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, on “The Hill” at 21550 Highway 9, three-and-a-half miles east of Forest City near the Pilot Knob entrance. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Oakwood Cemetery in Forest City.

Clarence Francis Sandry, son of Francis and Fannie (Dorenkamp) Sandry, was born June 1, 1934, two miles north of Belmond. He met the love of his life Arlene Marie Chapman and was united in marriage on March 26, 1953, in Britt. To this union, five children were born: Jerry, Patty, Billy, Tammy, and Lorry. They farmed for over thirty years in the Cresco area. Following his agricultural career, they owned and operated the Borderline Pizza in Chester until 1995, when a fire destroyed their home and business. Following this, they moved to the Forest City area where he worked at Winnebago Industries until he retired in 2011. They wintered in Quartzsite, Ariz. for many years until his health deteriorated and they could no longer make the trip. They made their home at Sunny Circle in Mason City. He loved NASCAR races, gardening, taking care of the yard, watching television, helping his son around the farm and spending time with his family.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Jerry (Jean) Sandry, Forest City, Patty (John) Price, Brighton, Colo., Billy and Karen Sandry, Cresco, Tammy Mary (Jeremy Hanson), Garner, and Lorry (Larry) Schoppers, Cresco; grandchildren: Jerry (Megan) Sandry, Julie (Brad) Rauk, Jenny (Chris) Higgins, John Price, Kathy (Jimmy) Wolfe, Crystal (Torrey) Sandry, Kevin (Emily) Sandry, Adam (Tracy) Sandry, Lacy (David) Copney, Steven (Jen) Mary, Nicholas (Ashley) Mary, Jesie (Jason) Maly, Kenny (Tiffany) Mensink; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Trey, and Emma Sandry; Jerry III and Neenah Sandry; Trevor and Elliott Wolfe; Alexis and Bailey Sandry; Josh, Noah, Jaedyn and Donovan Copney; Tommy and Trinita Folkerts and Natalie Mary; Nora Steffen; Cheyenne, Trystann, Dakota, Sierra, Tanner, Jamie, Aaliyah, and Dominic Maly and Dylon, Jade, Lilly and Kaylee Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Fannie and a grandson-in-law, Tony Maly. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, IA.
