February 25, 1866 -- January 6, 1951

Former Resident Dies in Chicago
William H. Short was born near Lostant, Ill., on Feb. 25, 1866, of John and Martha Ann Short, and
passed away in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 6, 1951. He grew to manhood near Melvin, Ill., and was married
to Jennie Umbarger on Jan. 16, 1889. To this union were born four children, two of whom preceded him in death, Shirley J. and Beulah Mae. Surviving are his wife; his son, D. C. Short of Chicago, Ill., daughter, Mrs. C. A. Weaver of Amarillo, Tex., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Moseley of Ames, and Mrs. Mary Sharpe of Boulder, Colo. He was a member of the Methodist church in Goldfield, and of the Masonic lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Short had resided in Chicago, Ill., for the past 14 years. Services were held at the Segersten & Pinter funeral home in Chicago on Jan. 7 and in the Methodist church at Goldfield, on Jan. 8 and interment at Glenwood cemetery.
