February 23, 1925 --- July 2, 1963

Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Carter, 37, were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Clarion Methodist Church with the Rev. E. C. Allen officiating. Burial was at Evergreen cemetery with the Eyler Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Mary Jane Carter passed away at the St. Barnabas Hospital at Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 2, 1963, after a lengthy illness.

Mary Jane Claude was born on a farm in Wright County on February 23, 1925, to William and Jane Claude. She received her education in the Wright County and rural Hamilton County schools. She was baptized in the Methodist faith in Clarion. On January 3, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Carter of Clarion. For the past six years they have resided in Minneapolis, Minn. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her father, William Claude, one brother, Wilbur Claude, both of Clarion; four sisters, Mrs. Ray (Gladys) Hills of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Walter (Odette) Simmons of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Roy (Ruby) Randall of Woolstock, Iowa, and Mrs. Clifford (LaVaughn) Spires of Webster City, Iowa, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Wayne, who was killed in action in World War II.
