August 2, 1887 --- June 28, 1963
Services for Mrs. Archie Blewett were held Monday, July 1, at two o'clock at the First Christian Church in Goldfield. The Rev. T. M. Walton officiated and burial was in Glenwood cemetery in Goldfield. Augusta Caroline Hansen Blewett, the daughter of Kristen and Annmarie Hansen, was born August 2, 1887, near Nordenbro, Langeland, Denmark, and died at the Sisson Nursing Home in Humboldt on June 28, 1963, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 26 days. In 1889, she came with her parents, brother, and two sisters to the United States, where the family settled in the Evergreen Community near Goldfield, Iowa. She attended elementary school in that community and graduated from the Goldfield High School. She was married Nov. 9, 1910, to Archie A. Blewett. They settled in Goldfield, where they made their home during their entire married life. To this union was born one daughter, Averil. Early in life Mrs. Blewett became a member of the First Christian Church of Goldfield, to which she was faithful the remainder of her life. Until illness forced her to withdraw, she was an active worker in the missionary society and in the Alpha Club of which she was a charter member. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, step-father, and three step-brothers. Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. F. A. Larson and Miss Anina Hansen of Mason City, a half brother, Arvig C. Nelson of Clear Lake; two step-brothers, Nels S. Nelson and Laurits Nelson of Goldfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Augusta Blewett was a faithful "mother in Israel," always in her place at the church when her health would permit, and even when many others would have preferred to remain at home. She felt that there was strength to be obtained by worshiping with the congregation, as well as letting her own presence speak to others of the value of the spiritual life. She was kind to all, with never a word of criticism. Even her smile was enough to assure us of her loyalty to the Church and what the church needed and stood for. As a wife, as a mother, a neighbor, and friend, she leaves an influence which will continue to live in the church and in the hearts of loved ones as long as her memory shall remain.
