SWALEDALE - Wilma Bertha Lindsay, 80, of Swaledale, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at the Swaledale United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Scherb presiding. Private family graveside services will be held at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton.
Wilma Bertha Lindsay was born August 31, 1931, at Forest City, a daughter of Walter H. and Clara (Larson) Lauden. She graduated from Goodell High School and then Hamilton Business College in Mason City. Wilma was united in marriage with Marvin Dean Lindsay April 13, 1951, at her parents' home in Goodell. Together they raised a family on a farm near Swaledale. For 19 years, Wilma worked for A.C. Nielsen Company in Mason City, retiring in 1987. She also worked at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Thornton. For many years, Wilma was a devoted member of the Swaledale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending her grandson's hockey games and playing cards with friends and relatives.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years: Marvin; son: Arlen (Barb) Lindsay, Mason City; grandchildren Jarrod and Jordon Lindsay; sister Rosie Gerdes, Klemme, Iowa; nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Wilma is preceded in death by two sons: Roger and Robert, her parents, sister: Betty Cole; two brothers-in-law: George Gerdes and Charles Cole. Retz Funeral Home.
