DRURY, HADLEY, MCALPINE, TROUSDALE

February 24, 1889 --- May 9, 1967

Services for Mabel Drury Hadley were held Thursday, May 11, at the Rowan Methodist church with Rev. Louis Aitken conducting the services. E. A. Rietz was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Eleanor Casteel at the organ. Pall bearers were Lloyd Drury, Robert Drury, Dale Cox, La Verne Hadley, Kevin Hadley and Larry McAlpine. Interment was at the Graceland Cemetery at Rowan with the Fulton Funeral Home at Belmond officiating.

Mabel Drury Hadley was born Feb. 24, 1889 at El Paso, Illinois, the fourth child of Edward and Mary Drury. In 1900 her family moved to Iowa and settled near Popejoy. Mrs. Hadley attended the public schools at Alden and Ellsworth Jr. College at Iowa Falls. She taught school for four years in Wright and Franklin counties. On March 18, 1914 she was united in marriage to Herbert L. Hadley of Rowan, and to this union were born two children, a son, Loran L. Hadley and a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Celeste) McAlpine. Mrs. Hadley was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her two children, two brothers, Frank Drury of Clarion, and Ezra Drury of Harrold, South Dakota; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Trousdale of Alden and four grandchildren. She passed away May 9, 1967 at Belmond, Ia. after an extended illness.
