Services Held for Ray E. Poncin

Funeral services for Ray E. Poncin, 68, were held at the Martin Funeral Home at Emmetsburg Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 1 P.M. Rev. Chester L. Guinn conducted the service and the Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ray E. Poncin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Poncin, was born November 18, 1899 near Blairsburg, Iowa, and passed away suddenly at his home at Emmetsburg
Monday morning, September 9. He graduated with the class of 1918 from the Galt High School. He was employed by the Rock Island Railroad for 45 years and had spent the past several years in his home at Emmetsburg. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Poncin, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Earl (Sue) Pyle, Mrs. Joe (Joy) McCoy and Lee Poncin of Cedar Rapids and Nick Poncin of Galt. Also surviving are one sister-inlaw, Mrs. Carroll Swanger of Galt, many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held for Mr. Poncin at the Galt Cemetery Wednesday at 3 p. m. Scripture reading and prayer were given by Ed Nelson. Pallbearers were Marion Blankenship, M. M. Potter, John Rummans, Merle Poolman, Bluferd Cooper and Albert Hilpipre. About 50 guests were lunch guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Swanger following the services.
