June 11, 1886 -- March 2, 1935

Jay Halbert Severson was born June 11, 1886, in Grundy county, Morris Ill., and died in Minneapolis March 2, 1935. He moved with his parents to Wright county, Iowa, on a farm near Belmond, where he was confirmed in the St. Olaf Lutheran church by Rev. H. C. Holm. In 1902 the family moved to a farm near Kanawha, Iowa, where he grew to young manhood. On Oct 16, 1913, he was united in marriage by Rev. H. C. Holm to Marie Oustad of Kanawha, Iowa. They resided in Kanawha for a few years, later moving to Albert Lea, Minn., where they have made their home since. To this happy union three children were born, one boy having preceded his father in death passing away in infancy. Those who morn his passing are his devoted wife and two daughters, Bernice and Ardella, living at home. He is also survived by his father, Ole H Severson, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. M. J. Howlett, Britt, Iowa; Sadye Ann Warnock, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. N. B. Kelley, Seattle, Wash; M. B. Severson, Kanawha, Iowa; Mrs. Robert Carr, New Richland, Minn.; Edythe Mae Marson, Albert Lea, and Orville Severson, Osage, Iowa. His mother had passed away very suddenly six months previous to his death. He was a dearly devoted husband and father and his sudden passing comes as a severe shock to to his loved ones. The funeral services were held at the First Lutheran church in Albert Lea on Tuesday morning, March 5th, with the Rev. S. T. Sorenson officiating. Burial was made at Kanawha, Iowa.
