Merl M. Ross, Ellendale Man, Dies at Hospital

ELLENDALE, MN — A heart ailment resulted in the death of Merl Mason Ross, 55, at 1 p.m. yesterday
at Naeve hospital. A resident of Bath township for the last five years, Mr. Ross had been in ill health for several years. He was a carpenter most of his life, although he spent the last six years farming, A son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ross, he was born July 19, 1897, at Goldfield, Iowa, He lived at Fairmont until 1943, at which time he moved to Freeborn county. He married Ardis Schnebly in 1926 at Kanawha, Iowa, after attending school at Wright county, Iowa, and Ceylon, Minn. He was a member of Ellendale Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, his mother, Mrs. Carrie Ross, Fairmont; four sons, Lyle, University of Minnesota; Arlan, Richard, Harvey, all at home; and a daughter, Myrtle, also at home. Others surviving are three brothers, Ralph, Frank, Fairmont; Holland, Manchester, Conn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Laura) Reed, Fairmont, and Mildred Ross, Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ellendale Methodist church with the Rev. George Chant officiating. Burial, under direction of Freeborn Funeral home, will be at Lake Belt cemetery at Ceylon.
