Curtis Perry Ganzeveld, the son of George and Louise (Pogge) Ganzeveld, was born on February 21, 1934, on a farm in Wright County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth – graduating from Renwick High School in 1952. On November 6, 1954, Curt was united in marriage with Carol Ann Rasmussen at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. The couple made their home and raised four children in the Goldfield area.

Curt worked as a hired hand for Rudy Amosson, helping him with his stable and race horses. Curt served in the Army National Guard and worked nearly 20 years at Carlson Implement in Humboldt. Curt and Carol farmed together until 1999. Curt was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Elder and Trustee. He also served 12 years on the W&H Coop Board and also as secretary. Curt enjoyed snowmobiling, antique tractors, working on small engines and western movies. In his younger years, Curt enjoyed playing the accordion.

Curt passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, the age of 78 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Ganzeveld. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ganzeveld of Goldfield; children: Kathy Fletcher (John) of Clarion, Jim Ganzeveld (Patty Eide) of Woolstock, Judy Fratzke (John) of Jesup and Diane Reed of Clarion; eleven grandchildren: Kama Rasmussen Li (Dr. Galaxy), Ben Rasmussen, Noel Rasmussen (David Hatch), Nicole Askvig (Josh), Rachel Fletcher, Tina Ganzeveld (Blair Thomason), Mercede Ganzeveld (Brandon Propes), Allison Ganzeveld Woods, Shelby Ganzeveld Woods, Logan Reed and Miranda Reed; six great-grandchildren: Nic, Dakota, Lydia, Alexis, Tristan and Emma; brothers, Clarence Ganzeveld (Chris) of Humboldt and Stanley Ganzeveld (Linda) of Goldfield; brother-in-law, Tony Rasmussen (Betty) of Lodi, CA; sister-in-law, June Mundt (Marcus) of Harlan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at the Goldfield Presbyterian Church. Visitation is Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield – 602 N. Washington. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.
