October 23, 1881 --- October 25, 1918

Clarence F. Wilde, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Wilde, was born at Gowrie, Iowa, October 23, 1881. During the most of his life, or for more than twenty-three years, he lived in Eagle Grove. For the last seventeen years he had been in the employ of the C. & N. W. Railway where he had served with efficiency and satisfaction, most of the time as a passenger brakeman.

On October 15th, brother Wilde was seized with influenza and died Friday forenoon, October 25, 1918, at the age of 37 years and 2 days. He is survived by his wife and son, and his aged father and mother of whom he was the only child.

Mr. Wilde united with the Methodist Episcopal church in November, 1901, during the pastorate of the Rev. Geo. W. Southwell. He always took great interest n the purpose and work of the church and was a regular attendant at its services. He was a lover of his home and his family and found much of his pleasure in making them comfortable and happy. to his father and mother he was always a loving and dutiful son. His memory will be precious to them and to his family. Deceased was a member of the Yeoman and was one of its most active members. He was also a prominent Odd Fellow, also a member of the trainmen.

Funeral services were held at his late home on East Broadway Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, Rev. Chas. H. Seward being in charge. Miss Thorpe sang two selections accompanied on the violin by Miss Kubitschek. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
