Robert Leslie Fisher was born December 10, 1911, the son of Bertram and Frankie Ruby France Fisher at Clarion. He received his education in the Eagle Grove school system, and the Eagle Grove Junior College. He was united in marriage to Freda Buhner of Eagle Grove on June 23, 1938, at Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. He entered the United States Army December 28, 1942 at Camp Dodge. He had obtained the rank of Staff Sgt. at the time of his honorable discharge on January 1, 1946 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Upon returning from the service, he was employed as produce manager for the various grocery stores in Eagle Grove including Martins Grocery, Schoonover Grocery, Consumer Grocery, and Paul's Pay-N-Takit Grocery. In 1978, he went to work as a billing clerk for the Umthun Trucking Company in Eagle Grove.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, the American Legion VFW, the Bower Masonic Lodge No. 464, Chapter and Council, and the White Shrine.

Robert Leslie Fisher died at the Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, following a short illness, May 10, 1992. He had attained the age of 80 years, and five months. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harold, Donald, Richard, and Clayton; and his sister, Zola Neely. He is survived by his wife.

Funeral services were held May 13 at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated at the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services were in charge of arrangements.
