Edna L. Helmick, the daughter of Frank and Winnie (Eaton) Ross, was born July 21, 1916 at Fountain Run, Kentucky. Her family moved to Iowa where she attended schools in the Webster City area. On September 28, 1935, Edna was united in marriage to Clyde Helmick at Webster City. The couple farmed in the Eagle Grove and Woolstock area until 1980, when they moved to Eagle Grove. Edna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and the Troy Culture Club. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, visiting with friends and cooking.

Mrs. Helmick passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2003, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1998; one grandchild, Kit Helmick; one great grandchild, Jared Schaumburg; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Helmick of Eagle Grove and Dean Helmick and his wife Marilyn of Eagle Grove; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Luverne Simms and Marilyn Reaminsnyder; one brother, Don Ross and other relatives and friends.
